Are the results on deadliest warrior accurate?
to me it seems there is no way their results are anywhere close to accurate. the warriors who they are studying would use their weapons much more effectively than the people they bring in to test the weapons. there are so many variables like strength and training. every episode is the same, they disagree which is the better warrior, then after every weapon they say holy crap that is a kill shot. tAre the results on deadliest warrior accurate?
No, the show is pretty much complete bullshat. But it is really fun to watch.
I continuesly say that the show should be called deadliest weapon because they do not test the martial art behind the weapon. Example, even though the shaolin monks have the highest kill rate yet, I still think they got shafted because they did not factor the lifetime of hard and powerful MA training.
The same can be said for almost all those battles, excluding the gun fights. Those were just stupid in all respects, ha ha.

Eh. It's more scientific than the poorly named "Fight Science". It still has problems, though. For starters, it's hard to quantify the training of the actual warriors until you get to the 20th Century stuff. Even the "Shaolin monks" performed in historically inaccurate manners, owing more to modern Wushu than actual traditional Chinese fighting methods. Now some things they can legitimately test, like the cutting power of a katana vs. chain mail (I don't care if you're a samurai fanboy or not, a razor can't cut through chain links). But some of the other tests weren't done in a way that you could actually quantify things, for example the meat-cutting tests, and hardly any were done in a comparitive way. One of my buddies likes to point out that one guy gets to bash a plastic skull, while another faces a block of ballistics gel. That's not very scientific when you're comparing the weapons. But until someone develops a time machine, that's the best thing we have to work with. By and large, it's just for fun, and I gotta laugh at people who take it too seriously.
Depends on what type of accuracy your looking for. As far as measuring the speed, force, and damage of the fighter being tested, they have reached an unparalled level of scientific data collection. They do run 1000 separate simulations where they change the stats on a "generic" fighter and the computer runs the numbers against each other. This seems good in theory, but the problem is, the computer completely forgets terrain the fighters are engaged at (as a slippery ships floor COULD favor a viking against a samurai). Also the fighters endurance isn't figured in, as well as the most important thing that their is NO substitute for, EXPERIENCE. Obviously regardless of what style of fighter you are, a more experienced fighter almost always has the upperhand. The more battles you've fought, the more knowledge you have on how to counter someone who may be stronger, faster, or more talented than yourself. Obviously raw data is all we can measure in this day and age without literally killing someone, but you have to admit, its great fun to speculate, support your favorite style, and see what carnage the weapons can potentially do.
It is as accurate as it can be. There is only so much a Computer can calculate. Things like a persons true skill and tactics can not be calculated accurately.
I do not dislike the show or the results, but realistically it is just entertainment. In the end no it is not completely accurate but it can still be fun to watch when I have the time

Alright, so I just bought Deadliest Warrior: Legends on XBLA, and I was going through the warrior titles, and some of them said to beat arcade on deadliest using only "Tribal flute" and these other weird weapons. I was watching the first episode of Deadliest Warrior Season 2 (American S.W.A.T. vs. German GSG9) and I fell asleep half way through. I'm curious as to who won the match up.Who won the Deadliest Warrior match up of S.W.A.T. vs. GSG9?
They made SWAT win because Americans are watching this. You can see them do the testing, and they even say GSG9's sniper rifle does better than SWAT's sniper rifle, and in the aftermath, you can see that for some reason, SWAT got 66 more kills than GSG9 from their snipers.
The PSG is obviously better than the Remington 700, I think they rigged it.
The SWAT guys owned the GSG-9 in the shooting competitions even with the admittedly inferior weapons (the SEALS won by outshooting the Israelis in real life too). They just have more skill but this is LA SWAT, not just any random middle of nowhere SWAT team like the title would make you believe.
So, to explain it, SWAT got 66 more kills because part of the algorithm also takes into account the ability to use the weapon and not just which weapon is better. LA SWAT did a better job shooting in the real-life test. If GSG-9 had done a better job, they would have undoubtedly won snipers.
They had completely different tactics in the simulation, which would be different in RL. If you watch it, SWAT only camps, while GSG9 does all the rushing, which from any COD game you can tell how much of an advantage camping is.

Just imagine how hard it would be to factor in teleportation, or shape shifting. so actually it wasnt vampire biased, they took away a lot from team vampire by making them killable by zombies. also, modern zombie, despite their speed and somewhat higher intelligence, actually are much easier to kill than the classic romero zombie you see in world war z. if you notice in left for dead or 28 days later, the zombies were infected humans who still had most of the functions of a normal human, therefore can be killed by body shots. romero zombies, you gotta take out the brain. you can set um on fire, shoot up all their organs, cut um in half, as long as that brain is intact they keep coming. NOW ON TO THE MAIN QUESTION: technically, vampires win. the number came out in the vampires favor, therefore vampires won the battle more than zombies What happens in the reenactment is just meant to show what might happen in the battle. No i didn't agree with the whole episode as the vampire team got to choose there genre or movie style of vampire where as the zombie team did not and the vampire team choose modern well why wouldnt they faster stronger etc etc but "IF" the zombie team had been able to chose the modern zombie like the ones from the new version of dawn of the dead style films where the zombies run are stronger then human as seen when the zombie tries to punch through the windshield of the car and almost does it and can still use the arm / hand afterwards the modern zombie also has a few more tricks up its sleave but im not going to go on for hours enough to say watch the films and see what i mean i dont think the vampires would have stood a chance against modern zombies so i think the whole program was to heavily biased towards the vampires shame really it would have been a really good program if they had done it correctly enough to say ..........................shame really
I agree with Joshua, zombies can run and overwhelm a single being in a matter of seconds.... and if a Vampire dies from a single bite, the vampire should turn into a zombie and attack with the power and speed of the vampire.

No i didn't agree with the whole episode as the vampire team got to choose there genre or movie style of vampire where as the zombie team did not and the vampire team choose modern well why wouldnt they faster stronger etc etc but "IF" the zombie team had been able to chose the modern zombie like the ones from the new version of dawn of the dead style films where the zombies run are stronger then human as seen when the zombie tries to punch through the windshield of the car and almost does it and can still use the arm / hand afterwards the modern zombie also has a few more tricks up its sleave but im not going to go on for hours enough to say watch the films and see what i mean i dont think the vampires would have stood a chance against modern zombies so i think the whole program was to heavily biased towards the vampires shame really it would have been a really good program if they had done it correctly enough to say ..........................shame really
I agree with Joshua, zombies can run and overwhelm a single being in a matter of seconds.... and if a Vampire dies from a single bite, the vampire should turn into a zombie and attack with the power and speed of the vampire.
I just watched it now an I gotta say... Who give a s**t! It's just a show. Now my opinion is that the zombie win. Their virus got to the vampire at the end. The zombies also had a huge advantage in the numbers

There is a pattern I'm seeing with the first two shows:
Apache beat Gladiator, and very soundly, mostly due to "tactics"
Samurai beat Viking, although very close, due to "focus"
Seems the the more intelligent, focused, and trained warrior is most deadliest, despite the equipment used.
Gladiators generally were forced to fight and had limited training. Apaches had been training since a very young age. While both Vikings and Samurai started training very young, Samurai had the advantage of a better education.
Now, looking forward to next show:
Spartan Vs. Ninja
Ninja's trained extensively, had all the advantages of Samurai as far as education.
Spartans were born into a warrior's culture, did not much else but fight, and were educated very well as well.
So, I'm thinking that the difference will be in battle tactics.
Ninja's fought almost exclusively as assassins. Spartans fought in phalanx.
Therefore, based on the idea that a Ninja in solo combat is in his/her "world" while the Spartan is used to having a warrior on both sides of himself, I'm guessing the Ninja wins. Although, Ninja's usually fought enemies that did not see them coming.

I was just about to get the original Deadliest Warrior game (I know I'm late) and I saw that they have a newer one, Legends. I know they have 9 new characters, but do they also have the old characters still? Deadliest Warrior William Wallace vs Shaka Zulu?
I am not trying to be biased but does ay one else think that this episode will stir up some controversy depending on who wins and how any opinion will be appreciated. I always think the most experienced and advanced warrior wins but i have been wrong a couple of times.Deadliest Warrior William Wallace vs Shaka Zulu?
I will have to place my vote on Wallace as well. The wins on this show are always decided by superior weaponry. Considering that Wallace's weapons were far superior to Shaka Zulu I would have to give it to Wallace. The Claymore may be a big heavy weapon, but Wallace was a large man who could easily wield this weapon and the preview had the Wallace expert handling the large weapon with speed and grace.
That wasn't even a fair match, william wallace carried a sword that was 4.5 feet long, and shaka zulu carried a cow hide shield, rock solid logic will tell you who wins. I think maybe Hannibal v William Wallace would have been more of a fair match up.
II dont care how big that claymore, was shaka zulu was just too fast and that poision mist would have made the fight one sided. William Wallace even with all those advanced weapons would have got mopped by somone lees superior than him. The show should be called "Deadliest Weapons" not "Warrior."
I researched both men and I think it was a better and more interesting matchup than a lot of people might think. Both were leaders of their people and both were extremely tall and strong. Shaka had many youthful feats, just like Wallace. I don't think the Claymore won - it was Wallace's shield.
I think it is real funny to be honest, people who know nothing about the Zulu weapons are already predicting that they are going to lose and will turn around and critize the show as being reverse racist when they expose the shaka zulu actually had superior weapons technology.
William Wallace died in 1305 and Shaka died in 1828. So on earth do some people think william had better technology other than the assumption they have that all non-whites are backwards. It is like saying I think that a medeival knight from 500 years ago had better technology than the Nigerian army who has all kind of guns and helicopters and planes.
The episode will stiry controversy up against people who are already racist or racist but don't think they are racist.
The warrior who is best at mid range usually wins and there is a good chance that
I think almost all of these match ups have some kinda racial controversy. But this will take the cake, its two leaders/warriors fighting off the english whom both are somewhat legendary and hyped up more then what they probably were.
I would have to say though that William Wallace will probably win due to the technological advantage. Since their chain mail would prevent the spears from piercing their bodies, and the Huge claymore sword that can cut through almost anything, it would be hard to believe wallace losing.
But. . . . if they were to make all weapons neutral I would say shaka zulu hands down. I mean while wallace was large and strong, speed always wins, so it would be no contest.
What they need to do though is start comparing more similar warriors such as the Knight vs. Samurai which were pretty much the same thing only ones east others west. Some big misconceptions and innacuracies are being said here. First off, Shaka Zulu NEVER fought against the British on any large scale or at all. The Zulu as a people did later on in the 1870's, but this was 50 years after Shaka's death. Shaka Zulu fought civil wars with the indigenous peoples of the Zulu regions in an effort to unite these warring people, which he was successful. Firearms were frowned upon and were not really used during his reign. and contrary to what they'll have on the show, it was considered a great dishonor to throw away a spear. Shaka believed this was an idiotic tactic as it disarmed oneself, this was an act punishable by death. As far as William Wallace is concearned, the idea that he was some giant maneating scotsman, was just an exaggerated myth that was alluded to in the film Braveheart. He was a legend in Scotland, and it wasn't uncommon for someone of such high status to be percieved as a giant back then. Looking at it now, I'd say it's kinda one sided, but we don't know what weapons are going to be brought to the table yet. I think Wallace will probobly win, but I wouldn't be surprised if Shaka won. They claymore is huge, and a missed swing with it could leave you off balance big time. A nimble Zulu could take full advantage of that. I'll go with the underdog and say Zulu pulls it off.
The shoddiness of the spreadsheet not withstanding (I mean, the shaolin monk only won like, 700 compared to what should've been at least 900+), Wallace wins. I would find it utterly comical if they gave shaka zulu a muzzle load, considering that the zulu had trouble firing them and could at most fire 1 shot, ever, and went back to using spears. Wallace on the other hand should have at least chain mail, since he wasn't a poor average high lander.
its going to be william wallace. he WAS indeed a rather large man, not smallish like in Braveheart, which by the way was 75% fiction. Wallace wasn't as kind in real life as he was in that movie. He was renowned for being a bloodthirsty savage on the battlefield, even turning one of his enemies into a belt. shaka zulu will defintley have the advantage of speed over wallace, but from what i've seen of the preview of the show, where the scottish claymore was shown decapitating three heads with one 180 degree swing of the sword, i find it hard to believe that zulu will win.

This time they picked two real people. Like using stats to see who would win a match between Muhammad Ali and Rocky Marciano. I think it would have been better if they just chose a Zulu Warrior vs. a Scottish Knight. Wallace was a big man with a big sword and Shaka could run 50 miles a day and had fire arms acquired from the Brits. This topic is sure to get all the hate mongers all fired up if their man doesn鈥檛 win. Poor choice on this match up but great show other wise.
My record so far has been 4-3 with my bets on the show.
Both are pretty fierce individuals and although Wallace may have better materials at his desposial, they don't factor in enviornment. I mean put a ninja on a pirate ship or the Yakuza in the jungle. There are many things not factored in. So...will they fight in open plains? Or on grassy marsh?
Anyway, I think Zulu will give Wallace a run for his money.

I'm not quite sure what controversy you're worried about. Shaka Zulu was a decent leader yes, but William Wallace is a legend. An African wearing cloth and perhaps reed or wooden armor is not going to last long against a 6 ft tall, pissed off Scot in steel armor (Yes, contrary to Mr. Gibson's excellent but innaccurate movie, Wallace wore steel armor and probably never wore a kilt. His face was never painted.) swinging a sword as big as himself. In the 1700's, most of the African slaves taken from Africa by the Europeans were shorter by genetics. Wallace was a giant in Scotland, so if the regular Europeans were taller than the Africans, he is going to tower of Shaka Zulu. And while Shaka Zulu is noted for his military prowess, it is never mentioned about his fighting skill. He probably was just a mediocre fighter. Wallace, on the other hand, was compared to Ulysses in his strength, sweeping aside his enemies, and reportedly dismembering a horse with one stroke of his sword at the Battle of Stirling Bridge.He also killed a whole patrol of English soldiers by himself in his younger days, first only using a dirk (A somewhat long knife), but then picking up one of the slain Englishmen's swords.The only reason he was captured was by treachery and by the English threatening to kill his best friend, Kurley (I believe that was his name). His fighting prowess was a legend. I really do not think it's going to be much of a contest. A knight who fights in steel armor and has learned to swing a 60lb+ claymore fast enough to be effective while wearing that armor is not going to have much trouble beating an African using a hide shield, a spear which would most like break against the steel armor and not penetrate it. (a bodkin arrow and a thrust in between the joints were usually the only ways an actual blade killed a knight. Swords were usually used to actually bludgeon the enemy to death. Spears are only really useful for keeping distance between the enemy and yourself and against horses. Since Wallace has a 6 ft. claymore, I doubt Shaka's reach is going to be effective). Wallace beat back the "unstoppable" English onslaught, defeating heavy cavalry by implementing footsoldiers for the first time in the Medieval Age. Shaka Zulu probably didn't even know what a horse was, much less how to fight a trained knight on one. Yes, the Shakan Zulu forces defeated the British, but they defeated the British who were drafted, given a crappy muzzle-loader, and sent into the fight, not the battle-hardened warriors of Wallace's time. So, in my opinion, Shaka Zulu is going to get taken down. Hard. William Wallace isn't going to go down easy.
And as for the guy above me, that's crap. It's only a 300 year difference, and the Zulus were way behind on technology anyways. So no, it'd be more like the Scots fighting a crappy form of the Aztecs, not the Nigerian Army, who suck anyway. Shakan Zulus used hide shields, thrusting spears, and throwing spears. They tried using the crappy muzzle loaders like once. And I doubt Shaka Zulu would use a gun. He'd use traditional Shakan weapons. And would get killed.oily skin
I will have to place my vote on Wallace as well. The wins on this show are always decided by superior weaponry. Considering that Wallace's weapons were far superior to Shaka Zulu I would have to give it to Wallace. The Claymore may be a big heavy weapon, but Wallace was a large man who could easily wield this weapon and the preview had the Wallace expert handling the large weapon with speed and grace.
That wasn't even a fair match, william wallace carried a sword that was 4.5 feet long, and shaka zulu carried a cow hide shield, rock solid logic will tell you who wins. I think maybe Hannibal v William Wallace would have been more of a fair match up.

Both were leaders of their people and both were extremely tall and strong. Shaka had many youthful feats, just like Wallace. I don't think the Claymore won - it was Wallace's shield.

I think it is real funny to be honest, people who know nothing about the Zulu weapons are already predicting that they are going to lose and will turn around and critize the show as being reverse racist when they expose the shaka zulu actually had superior weapons technology.
William Wallace died in 1305 and Shaka died in 1828. So on earth do some people think william had better technology other than the assumption they have that all non-whites are backwards. It is like saying I think that a medeival knight from 500 years ago had better technology than the Nigerian army who has all kind of guns and helicopters and planes.
The episode will stiry controversy up against people who are already racist or racist but don't think they are racist.

I think almost all of these match ups have some kinda racial controversy. But this will take the cake, its two leaders/warriors fighting off the english whom both are somewhat legendary and hyped up more then what they probably were.
I would have to say though that William Wallace will probably win due to the technological advantage. Since their chain mail would prevent the spears from piercing their bodies, and the Huge claymore sword that can cut through almost anything, it would be hard to believe wallace losing.
But. . . . if they were to make all weapons neutral I would say shaka zulu hands down. I mean while wallace was large and strong, speed always wins, so it would be no contest.

A seemingly harmless, but very lethal blowgun from afar, to a dagger or shuriken from medium range to close range. Now, a typical Ninja did not wield a katana, but a weapon known as a ninjat艒, a straight bladed, square guard sword. These blades weren't very sharp, but they were light weight and provided the ninja with a quick fatal strike to the chest.
A ninja would also deploy the uses of caltraps to disable an opponent's charge, or retreat, as well as a shuriken for a quick escape. Shurikens were hardly used offensively, but if they were. They were used from the shadows, and often dipped in poison so that they could harm an opponent without giving themselves away.
A ninja would also use pressure points in hand-to-hand combat being masters of ninjutsu. Striking from behind an opponent, or the shadows, or using their speed and agility and cunning minds to open their guard, a ninja was deadly to any warrior. Even the fabled samurai.

Many of you have no idea what you're talking about with a ninja. Ninjas use stealth as they often faed being outnumbered. Remember, their targets were often lords who were guarded by multiple samarai. Stealth was not an option-- it was a necessity. But in head-to-head combat,
a ninja was VERY lethal. The setting is important to note as well. A spartan used usually a long spear. A ninja's hand-to-hand weapons were mostly very close range like the wakasashi (a small katana). In an indoor duel, the Spartan's spear is useless and outside, if he doesn't kill the ninja be
fore he gets close-in, he won't be able to effectively use that spear. Remember also, armor and shields are useful, but they carry their disadvantages. Added weight means slower speed and if one arm is apprehended by a shield, it means less maneuverability. Plus, please study Ninjitsu. When it co
mes to combat training, the ninja CLEARLY has the advantage. If you stripped both opponents of armor and weapon, while the spartan would be strong and granted would have some hand-to-hand prowess, the ninja is sure to win. (Sorry for the length. they don't offer much for comments..)

In a one on one duel both are more or less equal. However this question is like Jason Bourne vs John Rambo so both have their advantages.
I think the victor will almost surely be the Spartan. Ninjas are assassins: they rely on stealth. In a head on battle, they really don't stand a chance against the Spartan. Also, the spartan is equipped with plate covering nearly the entire body so most of if not all of the ninjas weapons will be rendered useless. After all, as an assassin, the ninjas weapons wouldn't be designed to kill a fully armored warrior; an assassin's target would be unarmed and vulnerable. Yes, ninja's specialize in one on combat because being an assassin means getting a killing strike on a specific target and then running away, but that doesn't mean ninja's are more efficient in duels, in fact, a duel means taking away the ninja's greatest advantage: stealth. The only way I imagine the ninja might win a fight with the spartan is if they poisoned
their shuriken or knives and managed to find an opening somewhere in the spartan's armor, but then, the chance is slim and the victor is decided by 1000 matches. The match up seemed a bit unfair to me to be honest. I think the ninja should have been matched up with an oppenent with less armor. Or maybe a ninja vs pirate fight to keep the ninja and pirate boners happy.

A ninja would likely stay out of melee range and thow poisoned stars, or shoot poisoned blowgun darts or arrows with great accuracy at a heavily armored Spartan warrior. Even if the projectile hits were not lethal, they would slow down and possibly incapacitate the Spartan and then the ninja could draw his blade to finish him off as he lay exhausted on the ground. The Spartan would be able to throw his usual complement of one or two spears. If it connected the ninja would be in big trouble, since they typically wore minimal, if any, armor.
If the Spartan was able to force the ninja into melee, then he would have the edge with his undoubtedly heavier armor and shield. A shield is a major defensive advantage for a warrior, and can also be used offensively.
As always, when you are dealing with trained killers, in 100 battles between equally skilled warriors, the result will be a lot of dead ninjas and Spartans. Even the superior warrior in will not likely win every duel due to the simple randomness of real battles.
Well considering the shield and armor of the spartan the ninjas projectiles will not reach the spartan, as for close range the spartans spear far out reaches the katana so the ninja would be impalled before being able to reach the target if it becomes a close range battle and if it boils down to sword on sword it will be armor of the spartan to panjamas of the ninja ... both are highly trained and skilled on how to kill but in the end i say spartan

Another thing though BRAINS do matters alot. You can have all the skills in the world and still loose to a beginner.
i don't know if anyone has noticed this really yet, but so far every battle has been a strength figure vs a speed figure, and both times the strength figure has lost. as much as i admire the Spartans, i believe they will most likely lose.

Clearly the Spartans would win because ninjas were meant to sneak up on enimies and ninjas are basically guerilla killers. Once The Spartans had a shield wall up everybody but ninjas are protected. Dont forget ninjas weren't known for there skill as a team and there is definately no way a ninja

In a one on one duel both are more or less equal. However this question is like Jason Bourne vs John Rambo so both have their advantages.

I think the victor will almost surely be the Spartan. Ninjas are assassins: they rely on stealth. In a head on battle, they really don't stand a chance against the Spartan. Also, the spartan is equipped with plate covering nearly the entire body so most of if not all of the ninjas weapons will be rendered useless. After all, as an assassin, the ninjas weapons wouldn't be designed to kill a fully armored warrior; an assassin's target would be unarmed and vulnerable. Yes, ninja's specialize in one on combat because being an assassin means getting a killing strike on a specific target and then running away, but that doesn't mean ninja's are more efficient in duels, in fact, a duel means taking away the ninja's greatest advantage: stealth. The only way I imagine the ninja might win a fight with the spartan is if they poisoned
their shuriken or knives and managed to find an opening somewhere in the spartan's armor, but then, the chance is slim and the victor is decided by 1000 matches. The match up seemed a bit unfair to me to be honest. I think the ninja should have been matched up with an oppenent with less armor. Or maybe a ninja vs pirate fight to keep the ninja and pirate boners happy.
I think that in a duel the ninja might have the edge. Ninjas are not necessarily better trained, but their fighting style seems to emphasize individual combat, whereas the Spartan was trained as a soldier to fight in formation with a unit of his comrades.
A ninja would likely stay out of melee range and thow poisoned stars, or shoot poisoned blowgun darts or arrows with great accuracy at a heavily armored Spartan warrior. Even if the projectile hits were not lethal, they would slow down and possibly incapacitate the Spartan and then the ninja could draw his blade to finish him off as he lay exhausted on the ground. The Spartan would be able to throw his usual complement of one or two spears. If it connected the ninja would be in big trouble, since they typically wore minimal, if any, armor.
If the Spartan was able to force the ninja into melee, then he would have the edge with his undoubtedly heavier armor and shield. A shield is a major defensive advantage for a warrior, and can also be used offensively.
As always, when you are dealing with trained killers, in 100 battles between equally skilled warriors, the result will be a lot of dead ninjas and Spartans. Even the superior warrior in will not likely win every duel due to the simple randomness of real battles.
Well considering the shield and armor of the spartan the ninjas projectiles will not reach the spartan, as for close range the spartans spear far out reaches the katana so the ninja would be impalled before being able to reach the target if it becomes a close range battle and if it boils down to sword on sword it will be armor of the spartan to panjamas of the ninja ... both are highly trained and skilled on how to kill but in the end i say spartan
The ninja would win. Very skillful. Not to say the Spartans are not skillful but the Spartan would be very limited against the ninja. It would almost be like the Apache vs Gladiator debut. Another thing though BRAINS do matters alot. You can have all the skills in the world and still loose to a beginner.
i don't know if anyone has noticed this really yet, but so far every battle has been a strength figure vs a speed figure, and both times the strength figure has lost. as much as i admire the Spartans, i believe they will most likely lose.

I was watching deadliest warrior on the computer the other day and i saw the one when a ninja fights a spartan and the spartan won. Do you think that is true? I really doubt that and I think that the ninja would have won.Deadliest warrior show on spike tv?

I dislike a lot of things about that show, but all things being equal, we're talking a human being with armor vs. one without, armed with bladed weapons with a similar range. The odds are in favor of the guy with the defensive edge (Spartan). The ninja get a bunch of hype, but most of that is pop culture and not historic fact. At the end of the day, they were just dudes, like everyone else. No magic powers, no "best martial arts skills ever", just guys. They were clandestine rebels and spies, yes, but the movies get a lot of it wrong. For example, they weren't too big on wearing all black:

Ninja weren't "stand and fight" kind of guys, they were "run and hide" kind of guys. That's reflected in the weapons demonstrated for the show, which were relatively non-lethal. The "black egg" was essentially a slightly upgraded version of throwing sand in someone's eyes, the shuriken and blowgun rarely gets penetration to cause a lethal wound (again, despite what the movies would have you believe) and as utilitarian as the karusigama is, it's a little awkward to use. Meanwhile, the Spartan's tools were pretty much designed to kill you as quickly as possible; on the battlefield, where the Spartans fought, you can't give someone a "distracting" wound and hope they'll go away. The javelin, spear, and sword were all designed to take out another warrier immediately, while the shield, being a combination offensive/defensive weapon, was one of the most utilitarian weapons ever seen on the show. Given those factors, and the fact that what most people "know" about the ninja was made up in the last 150 years or so, then yeah, I'm going to give the Spartan a significant edge in the fight.
i really hate these kinds of questions because again, the better, smarter fighter is gonna win that bout. Personally I think a ninja would win, because in ninjutsu, you learn about striking nerve clusters. it takes more than brute strength to win a fight.

I have a similar opinion, although I think the edition of the two new show hosts was good, I still feel like it is worse. The tests seem a bit botched and cheated like they wanted someone to win. The X-factors I feel are terribly rated. The testing seems less in depth like they just don't care to test a weapons capabilities to the fullest. I am all for having more then just weapons to test but they seem to care less about the weapons now.

i say the gren berets and im not saying that cause i live in the US, im saying that cause when the ballista knife was showed before the simulation it was easy for me to almost perfectly predict the outcome,the way i thought it was going to end is that the beret was going to choke the spetsnaz and with the spetsnaz last strenght he was going to drive the blade to the berets neck, it was easy to predict cause in the first punisher movie thats how a guy died,but i was slightly off, in the simulation the spetsnaz was on the ground. what was the last thing he said when he killed the beret it sounded awesome

I mean the Green Beret's came in and they killed like 4 Spetznaz's right away, and then the one Spetnaz ends up killing 3 Green Beret's. I was so mad at the simulation, and the way they ran their testing.Anybody watch deadliest warrior last night?
It was their worst testing effort to date last night. The grenade test was completely skewed towards the Green Berets, while the close range weapon test was completely skewed towards the Spetnaz. The E-Tool is a very effective weapon in close quarters, and much more practical than that spring loaded knife contraption. The shotgun test was worthless, proving only that the Russian weapon shot faster (but not at all taking into account that semi-automatic shotguns are much more prone to jamming). The worst test though was the M4 vs the AK-74. The M4 is a much much more accurate weapon which can easily incorporate a wealth of attachments that make it far superior to the AK.
The simulation was done in that (irritating) manner to create drama. It was obvious by their ridiculous testing that they were going to give the win to the Spetnaz, but they needed to make a long story out of it to make people think for a second that the Green Berets would win.
I also find it quite irritating that they used the Green Berets as the pinnacle of the US military when there are many groups with superior training and weaponry within the US military (no offense to any GB's, they are badasses).
It seems like its rigged so that each warrior wins an even amount of weapons, which realistically isn't that accurate. I wish they'd come right out and play fair, saying that one warrior would simply dominate the other.

I like the show and the weapon comparisons are generally pretty interesting, but I'm surprised at how much testing they leave out. I don't claim to be a weapons expert or anything, but how they ran the m4 vs ak test was stupid. From 10 feet away any gun is lethal so you can't say that the m4 and ak are equal in effectiveness just because they were able to hit a few dummies at close range. They should have mentioned the superior accuracy and variety attachments available for the m4 as well as the power of the higher calibur ak. Also, as effective as the spetsnaz knife is, they never even mentioned that the GB's multitool thing would be a lot more effective if facing more than one enemy. How did they miss that?
Another thing I can't believe they ignored. In the pirate vs knight episode, they claimed that both swords were equal in effectiveness. True they both cut through the pig but they ignored the knights armor completely. If that pig wore chainmail or plate armor the sword wouldn't work nearly as well

I like the show and the weapon comparisons are generally pretty interesting, but I'm surprised at how much testing they leave out. I don't claim to be a weapons expert or anything, but how they ran the m4 vs ak test was stupid. From 10 feet away any gun is lethal so you can't say that the m4 and ak are equal in effectiveness just because they were able to hit a few dummies at close range. They should have mentioned the superior accuracy and variety attachments available for the m4 as well as the power of the higher calibur ak. Also, as effective as the spetsnaz knife is, they never even mentioned that the GB's multitool thing would be a lot more effective if facing more than one enemy. How did they miss that?
Another thing I can't believe they ignored. In the pirate vs knight episode, they claimed that both swords were equal in effectiveness. True they both cut through the pig but they ignored the knights armor completely. If that pig wore chainmail or plate armor the sword wouldn't work nearly as well

Honestly, I'd rather see a show like Fight Quest than Deadliest Warrior.
You still get to learn about culture, training, etc. and even though it's about 2 guys perspective, you see some cool stuff. My opinion, it's better than the inaccurate geekfest battle by Max Geiger....

The knight lost his match against the pirate, but the pirate is a modern warrior while the knight was ancient. Odds are the pirate could have beaten anyone because he had guns. I would have loved to see knight vs samurai or knight vs spartan.Deadliest warrior, did the knight get the shaft?

I see it as just a show ,, but a few of my friends complain that "shaka zulu wouldn't have lost to a fat scottish guy" and "there is no way a 6'3 viking would lose to a 5'6 samurai"

Deadliest Warrior fails; they're very biased towards Americans and they never fully test the weapons, even in the most obvious aspects. For example, the M16 used by the IRA edged out the AK-47 because it was more accurate, period---what about stopping power and penetrating power combined? I've heard stories of US soldiers shooting charging insurgents with the 5.56 cartridge and not doing much more than making them more mad and charge faster. Also, try emptying an M16, or M4, 30 round magazine without it jamming at least once--if your gun doesn't fire, accuracy doesn't count for beans. In the SWAT vs GSG-9 episode, the Remington 700 got more kills than the PSG-1, how does that make ANY sense; the PSG-1 is capable of semi-automatic fire, the remington, bolt action; the PSG can utilize a 20-round external magazine for high capacity and quick reloading, the remington can utilize a detachable mag as well but it can only hold 6 rounds at MAX; and it's not like the semi-automatic fire will make the PSG-1 less accurate than the remington unlike other semi-autos because it DOESN'T have a heavy moving bolt, like say the M82, and it also utilizes a delayed-blowback operation. As for the explosives, the Spetznaz had the RGD and the Green Berets had the M69 grenades, but as for any accurate results, wouldn't anyone test them under the same circumstances? Deadliest Warrior fails; they're very biased towards Americans and they never fully test the weapons, even in the most obvious aspects. For example, the M16 used by the IRA edged out the AK-47 because it was more accurate, period---what about stopping power and penetrating power combined? I've heard stories of US soldiers shooting charging insurgents with the 5.56 cartridge and not doing much more than making them more mad and charge faster. Also, try emptying an M16, or M4, 30 round magazine without it jamming at least once--if your gun doesn't fire, accuracy doesn't count for beans. In the SWAT vs GSG-9 episode, the Remington 700 got more kills than the PSG-1, how does that make ANY sense; the PSG-1 is capable of semi-automatic fire, the remington, bolt action; the PSG can utilize a 20-round external magazine for high capacity and quick reloading, the remington can utilize a detachable mag as well but it can only hold 6 rounds at MAX; and it's not like the semi-automatic fire will make the PSG-1 less accurate than the remington unlike other semi-autos because it DOESN'T have a heavy moving bolt, like say the M82, and it also utilizes a delayed-blowback operation. As for the explosives, the Spetznaz had the RGD and the Green Berets had the M69 grenades, but as for any accurate results, wouldn't anyone test them under the same circumstances? The only restictions here are the ones put forth by Megavideo if you don't have a subscription to their website (you can only watch 72 minutes of video, then wait an hour before watching more of their videos). You need a subscription to Megavideo to actually download the video, but since you just want to watch the episode itself, it should be fine. The uploader managed to tape the episode and put it up when SPIKE reaired it as part of a Deadliest Warrior marathon.

Ninjas didn't fight anyway. They assassinated. That was their specialty. I disagree with knight vs. pirate. Every one of the knights weapons was one shot kill basically. The blunderbuss (shotgun) was the only maybe lethal pirate weapon. A few projectiles penetrated ONE layer of armor. The grenade is only useful in rooms or on groups of people because the fuse wouldn't be exact enough to throw it and have it blow up next to his head(like in the simulation). A few years more advanced firearms and then I would agree with the outcome. But not with the firearms shown. Of course their battlefields are also very different. A knight would be clumsy on a ship and sink like a stone if he fell over.
It's only a TV show, and they did give the Monk the win over the Maori, the Spartans didn't have a 4 foot shield, So if the battles didn't go your way, you think it's unfair?

Remember that Teddy's long range weapon was deemed to be better than Lawrence's and got the edge. In several episodes, gaining the long range edge as well as the mid range one often nets the warrior the win. If you can kill your opponent more effectively at a distance before he can engage you close up, then you would have dwindled away more of his numbers before he can do the same to you, leaving him with less chances to have a close combat fight where you could get tired out more easily. It is for that reason you would rack up more kills in long range.
Neither mid-range weapon got an egde, as both were deemed to be near even. In season 1 and 2 episodes, even though two weapons were determined to be even against each other, one typically scored more kills than the other anyway. This is season 3's example of that.
Getting the short range edge and not the mid range and/or long range ones usually isn't a good thing for a warrior. It shows that you are more effective in a close combat fight, but your opponent is better at picking off your men from a distance than you are. You're left with less men that you can use to advance on your opponent and engage him in close combat with, so even if you're a better close combat fighter, he has more men he can use to oppose you, and that's an advantage on his side. Warriors who get the short range edge but not a mid range and/or a long range one often lose. This happened to Lawrence.
There are also more than 100 X-factors plugged into the sim, even though they only show you 3 or 4 per episode, so those X-factors are going to have numerical values as well. We don't know what they are, so Roosevelt could have had an advantage there as well, but we didn't see it because it wasn't shown on television. Neither mid-range weapon got an egde, as both were deemed to be near even. In season 1 and 2 episodes, even though two weapons were determined to be even against each other, one typically scored more kills than the other anyway. This is season 3's example of that.
Getting the short range edge and not the mid range and/or long range ones usually isn't a good thing for a warrior. It shows that you are more effective in a close combat fight, but your opponent is better at picking off your men from a distance than you are. You're left with less men that you can use to advance on your opponent and engage him in close combat with, so even if you're a better close combat fighter, he has more men he can use to oppose you, and that's an advantage on his side. Warriors who get the short range edge but not a mid range and/or a long range one often lose. This happened to Lawrence.
There are also more than 100 X-factors plugged into the sim, even though they only show you 3 or 4 per episode, so those X-factors are going to have numerical values as well. We don't know what they are, so Roosevelt could have had an advantage there as well, but we didn't see it because it wasn't shown on television. "El Awrence" could have won and it was a close contest- roosevelt was a pugilist molst of his life and also spent a lot of time doing asian stick fighting / fencing
Lawrence was a oxford(college of jesus) man and he spent considerable time tooling around the uk on his brough superior.
both were dedicated to the idea of excelance of the person.
but i think teddy had it in the "grit" and mental department- lawrence was suspected of being a "little odd" by his peers if you ever read his biography.
I also think teddy had it in the hand-to hand dept, being a pugilist.
I also think that if you have ever faced down a charging elephant you have to have BIG BRASS ones which Roosevelt proved time and again.
